Scholarship Description:
Dr. Boran Gao (Purdue University, Department of Statistics) is hiring a full-time postdoctoral fellow in statistical genetics and genomics, available for immediate start. The fellow will be primarily affiliated with Purdue’s Department of Statistics and supervised by a collaborative team including Dr. Gao and Dr. Lulu Shang (MD Anderson Cancer Center). This mentoring structure offers excellent opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration, providing access to diverse expertise and resources.
The successful candidate will join a dynamic research team focused on developing AI, machine learning, and statistical methodologies to integrate multi-omics data for critical biomedical questions. The position includes professional development opportunities in scientific publishing, grant writing, career planning, and participation in prestigious international conferences. The fellow is expected to lead and publish peer-reviewed manuscripts as the first author and actively engage in professional conferences.
This is a 2-year position in the Department of Statistics, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability. The fellow will have opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration with researchers in the Departments of Statistics, Biological Sciences, and Sociology at Purdue, as well as with external collaborators.

Eligibility criteria:
- Strong research interest in statistical genetics/genomics.
- Demonstrated capability to conduct independent statistical methodology research.
- A track record of publishing scientific research papers.
- Proficiency in scientific programming languages (e.g., R, Python, C/C++).
- Experience with data analytics of biobank data such as UK biobank and All of Us, Single cell data such as Onek1k, SRT data such as 10X Xenium.
- Strong communication and writing skills.
