The University of Pennsylvania is currently inviting applications for fully funded postdoctoral positions.

Scholarship: Fully-funded
Degree: Bachelor, Master, Ph.D
Nationality: International Students
Location: USA
Application deadlines: Open

Scholarship Description:

Implement SOPs, perform cell culture, and design exploratory research to generate stem cell-derived islets (SC-islets) and/or advance islet cell biology.

Utilize in vivo transplantation models in small and large animals, including nonhuman primates, alongside cell-based assays to assess the characteristics of stem cells and function of SC-islets.

Apply a range of techniques—including gene engineering, gene expression analysis, single-cell RNA sequencing, spatial transcriptomics (spatial Seq), and bioinformatics—to investigate the fate of stem cells and differentiated SC-islets, driving advancements in beta cell replacement.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan, coordinate, and execute experiments. Present findings internally and externally.

Available Subjects:

  •  Type 1 diabetes

Eligibility criteria:

  • Experience in molecular biology and molecular immunology techniques, including but not limited to gene engineering, single-cell RNA sequencing, and cell lineage tracing.
  • Proficiency in cell-based assays such as gene expression analysis (e.g., qPCR, Nanostring) and flow cytometry.
  • Familiarity with computational biology and its applications. Experience in differentiating pluripotent stem cells (hESC and/or hiPSC) into functional islets is desirable.
  • A proven track record of publications is required.
